Berberine hydrochloride is an isoquinoline alkaloid, which exists in many plants of 4 families and 10 genera, including Berberiaceae. Berberine can precipitate yellow needle-like crystals from ether. Berberine hydrochloride has inhibitory effects on Shigella, Escherichia coli, Pneumococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Typhoid Bacillus and Amoeba. It is mainly used for intestinal infection and bacillary dysentery. It has also been found that this product has anti-arrhythmic effects.

1.Berberine Hydrochloride is used against asthma, diarrhoea, cholera, verminosis and gastralgia dyspepsia.
2.Berberine Hydrochloride is used in lumbago, hysteria, dyspepsia and worm affection.
3.Berberine Hydrochloride is used as surfactant and used for washing hairs and fabrics.
